You will learn how to use all the features on your camera whether it is digital or film in a fun fashion. The concentration will be on f Stops and shutter speeds, flash photography and compositional elements.

Photography Playdate for Adults
Come delve into the amazing world of photography with Laurie Klein. You will feel like a kid again, and spend a wonderful day shooting with your cameras. This will be a character study in photography, so dress in clothes that fit your wild side and bring at least 2 other charismatic changes of clothes. Try to think of the character you would like to create, and be free with it. Don't forget cosmetics and props - the wilder the better! Laurie will be there to help you create your alter ego. Expect to have lots of fun wearing very expressive makeup and shooting one another. You will learn: self-portraiture, posing, ways to get more from your subjects, composition, the importance of natural light, as well as how to bend light to your will.
If you have a laptop, please bring it so Laurie can review your days' work. Bring lunch, drinks, your camera of course with charged batteries and empty memory cards, and a flash and tripod if you have one.

In this talk, I will share experiences and conversations I had with the grand master photographer Ansel Adams, when I apprenticed with him. You will discover how mentoring and apprenticing can make all the difference in ones life. Ansel prevented me from taking the wrong career path. He recognized my talents before I even saw them.

February 4, 9 and 11
This hands-on class is fun for all ages and is a great way to unleash the artist inside of you! Starting with a photograph we will add layers of various materials such as found objects, paper, text, etc. We will also make our own paper and utilize hand coloring techniques. You will work at your own pace so this workshop is suitable for beginners as well as former returning students.

Fire and Ice~ Our Winter Shoot

Today I invited Kathy Walsh, from Homeward Bound, over to do a wintery photo shoot with Nicole. She brought a ton of fabulous clothes from her store that were perfect for our icy theme. Then, she and Nicole went out onto the lake and acted out a switch of power between the elements. We played on the lake until it got too cold to continue, then finished up the day with some wonderful hot chocolate.

Revisiting The Classic Art of Hand Coloring

Applying the traditional techniques of hand-coloring to contemporary digital photography.

Before there was color film, there were hand-colored and

hand-tinted daguerreotypes and tintypes. Some of these are priceless

treasures today.

Of course, now there are many modern ways to color digital photos using

Photoshop, but the timeless joy of applying color by hand to the surface of

a print is still unmatched by pushing pixels around. This workshop is a

hands-on experience that combines a variety of field shooting assignments

with studio sessions that explore numerous printing techniques, papers,

and mediums such as pencils, oils, watercolors, acrylic and more.

Exercises in composition, tonality, pre-visualization and color palette

are followed by discussions about finishing, mounting and framing.
