This is Nicole Cudzilo, Laurie's intern for the year~
Yesterday we went out and did an impromptu shoot by the water. Bryce and I dressed up in costume and got to play around while Laurie took our pictures. It was like any other amazing session with her -except that she was sick. It was also extremely muggy out, the light wasn't perfect, and some of the costumes didn't fit. But Hal Tweedy, Laurie's Creativity Coach, always stresses the importance of going out and creating when you don't really feel like it. When you can work through your physical and emotional feelings through an art form, magical things can happen! Sometimes the images that speak the most are the ones that we've created in our times of unpleasantness or not-feeling-myself-today moments. It was very interesting to watch, as the model and an art student, the process of working through the turmoil. Laurie was not sure what she wanted when she started, but as time progressed I found her trying new things, and pushing through to get out of her comfort zone. In the end there were pictures she liked, and pictures she didn't, but each one was part of the journey towards getting the final shot. Sometimes that journey is uphill, sometimes it's down, but we could never fully appreciate our "Ah ha!" moments without our less than ideal, or sometimes all together rotten ones because that is where we find our true perspective and can really learn about ourselves.
